Read Across America...

We celebrated "Read Across America Week" by dressing up as Dr. Seuss Characters...

A visit from the Cat in the Hat....

and a Guest Reader from the High School...

The Cat in the Hat brought each of our friends a book - Thanks, Cat!

We paused for a quick picture....

But then got right back to our reading!

To wrap up our week, we voted on our favorite Dr. Seuss book.  Our class favorite was, "The Cat in the Hat Comes Back"...there was just something about the cat eating cake in the tub that we just couldn't resist! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a blast celebrating Valentine's Day. 

We made special "mailboxes" to hold all of our Valentine goodies...

Heart crafts.....

We passed out valentines...

and enjoyed a day with friends! 

Thank you to everyone that sent in Valentine's - they were LOVED by all! :)

Writing Workshop....

Every day, we hone our writing skills during a 45 minute segment that we call "Writing Workshop." For many of our friends, this is their FAVORITE time of day. They are free to write about anything they choose....and I'm sure you can imagine the VAST array of topics that we see during this time! ;0)

We discuss where our Writing Inspiration can come from...our hearts, memories, concerns about the world, feelings, things we wonder about, and much, much more! We have also discussed fiction and nonfiction. I am so proud of all the wonderful writers in our class - we have a great group of authors (and illustrators!)
